Robbie Williams - 'She's Madonna'

Robbie Williams' fall from grace has been astonishingly rapid and unjust. While he was content to churn out the same three songs repeatedly (the sarcastic, poppy one, the heartfelt love one and the droney, self-pitying one) it was easier to split the atom than split him from the charts. The very moment he gets interesting, with the madcap, brimful of ideas "Rudebox", the nation shrugs its shoulders and seeks solace in the arms of that one man allergic reaction, Mika.

So "She's Madonna" has attracted the least attention of any Robbie single ever, despite being one of his loveliest pop songs in years. The Pet Shop Boys create a warm, luscious backdrop over which Robbie Williams delivers one of his richest vocals. And though the post-modern lyrical conceit could have fallen flat on its face in high camp stilettos - Robbie dumps his girl for the biggest pop star on the planet, then goes drinking with Kate, Stella and Gwyneth - he pulls it off by somehow injecting the track with sincerity and genuine wit ("she's got to be obscene to be believed").

It'll probably flop, but better an interesting failure than a dreary success.

Renault’s Surprisingly Good Dashboard Gadget Holder

Renault's

Enough of those lousy sticky grip pads. They just aren’t good enough to hold your gadgets when you perform those dangerous turns (to impress your girl friends of course).

The Koosh-like design by Renault is what they call the “Grass Mat”. It’s integrated into the dashboards of their new vehicles and is able to securely hold your iPods and cellphones. Simple yet effective. Everyone auto manufacturers should have a hint from Renault.

Black iMacs Coming Soon?

Rumor has it that Apple might be coming out with black 24″ (possibly 20″ too) iMacs starting next month. MacScoop has recently obtained this piece of information from an undisclosed source.

Looking at how the company has been putting out black versions of some of its products, such as iPods and MacBooks, it’s no wonder if this little rumor turns out to be real.

Billboard singles reviews: Aguilera, Tunstall

Christina Aguilera's original concept for the CD "Back to Basics" was a jazzy Andrews Sisters resuscitation, but she ultimately released a double disc brewing contempo with her retro shoutout. Grammy Award-winning first single "Ain't No Other Man" was a savvy blend of the styles, while ballad second release "Hurt" was timeless pop. Third in line, "Candyman," unquestionably was inspired by the original theme, with a raucous Kid Creole-meets-

, also reinvent herself. The lyric is hardly stuff of the '40s -- it's right raunchy -- but the performance commands such irresistible tempo that radio will have no choice but to sweeten airwaves with "Candyman."
